Science calls this "nexting", and our frontal lobe does it automatically for us. We don't realize it is happening. This vital function is what gives us the ability to know where to stand to catch the ball, how far we can follow the car in front of us and still stop before crashing into them, and gives us the ability to look forward in life and make a decision as to what we choose to happen next.

Dreams are the next level to nexting. Dreams are where we predict what is ahead and then change it to what would be the ideal choice to make. We have the ability to change it or correct it with just a single thought. We fictionalize it until it is a work of perfection.

The choices we make for our dreams very seldom parallel the choices we make for our life.

Why is that? If we have the ability to dream our life exactly the way we want it, why does it never turn out the way we dreamt it?

**Action **

The actions we take don't align with our dreams. This is due to where our dreams fall on the priorities list we have for our life. Most of us put our dreams far down our life list because of the day to day events and circumstances that constantly keep us to busy to S l o w D o w n and realize what we are missing. I have created this entire website for just this reason.

To help us S l o w D o w n and listen to our dreams. Listen to that voice inside that you have been carrying with you for many years. Realize that with the right actions you can, and will achieve all of your dreams. Look at YourBIGDREAM.info

**Integrity **

Integrity means living true to your values. Being honorable, honest, and faithful.

Our values are the guiding light that determines how we do the things we do. It is the beacon of truth that keeps us on the straight and narrow. Integrity gives us the power to do the right thing in the moment of choice about everything that happens in our life. In all the events and circumstances we have a choice. This choice is always based from our integrity and values.

FREE Book, "Choice" click here.

For many years I have strived to live my life with the highest level of integrity. To be fair, honest, dependable, and truthful about everything. This gives me a sense of pride, of honor, and of doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Living true to your own sense of values will bring you high self-esteem. It will bring you a feeling of truth and meaning to your life. A high level of integrity will naturally connect you to your dreams, place the priorities in a balanced order, and the actions necessary to believe and achieve all that your heart is telling you.

"Though you cannot go back a make a brand new start,

You can start from here and make a brand new end."
~~~Dr. John Maxwell~~~
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064158716744037266" style="DISPLAY: block; Commitments to clients, customers, business associates, family, friends, and the list goes on. What about the commitments you make with yourself.
Making commitments is easy. Meeting and fulfilling them is another story.
Keep your commitments. It’s that simple. Keeping your commitments is the highest measure of your personal integrity. When you meet commitments you have made on a regular basis you become the person of high esteem, character, and value others look up to. You feel accomplished, and successful. Because no matter what the commitment, how large or small, you succeeded in meeting it. You have won, and any victory, no matter what size is still a victory.
Most commitments you make involve others. But what about the commitments you make to yourself. Last year you committed to lose the excess weight you have been carrying around.
Did that happen?
Where you successful in meeting that commitment?
What about when you bought that health club membership and committed to go workout a least three times a week.
Have you stood by that commitment?
I know on a personal note, that while I maintain a very high personal level of commitment to others, the commitments I make to myself are the first ones I break. This comes from our unselfish nature to put others ahead of ourselves. Especially if they are family and loved ones.
So how can we make and keep better commitments to ourselves without breaking commitments to others?
First, don’t confuse commitments with dreams, hopes, or wishes.
If you want to lose 30 pounds, don’t make a commitment that I will lose 30 pounds in 3 months. It’s not realistic. For a commitment to become something you are willing to do whatever it takes to stand by it, the commitment must be realistic. If you commit to yourself that you will avoid the drive thru and eat green leafy vegetables twice a day for the next 30 days that is realistic. That is something you can get behind and commit to do. That becomes the vehicle to meet our commitment to lose excess weight.
If we commit to exercise three times a week and get behind it 100%, we choose to be creative with our schedule. Allow time to go to the health club, walk up the stairs in our building at lunch, or get up early and walk a couple of times around the block.
First rule of commitments.....be realistic.
I know that on a personal scale this holds true for me with my writing. A few years ago I committed to myself that I would write one-hour everyday, I started out great. Everyday I would rise an hour earlier, and begin writing. It was perfect, the house was quiet, and I was fresh and creative, not tired or worn-out from the day’s activities. This worked perfectly for a few weeks, but then I started to slip. I was sleeping later; I was trying to write at later times in the day or evening. I found that at best I was only writing 2 or 3 times a week, I was frustrated, and it showed in my writing. I realized that I was not living up to the commitment I made with myself. I had let myself down. This of course led to further frustration, anxiety, and less quality writing. I had failed in my commitment to myself because in reviewing my schedule it was not realistic.
Failure can be a rude awakening, and if accepted can be a lifelong road of disaster. But if we realize that any failure no matter of its size is just a turning point, we can adjust course and keep moving toward keeping the commitments we make with others and ourselves.
We always get some sign that we are slipping on our commitment, and can adjust accordingly before we hit the wall of failure. If we would just pay attention to those signs and proactively review the commitments we make we would realize if they are realistic.
Second rule of commitments.......see rule #1.
We often juggle many commitments in the air at the same time, if we pay attention to the warning signs we can avoid falling short on some commitments. Some may say that it is easier to not make any commitments you can’t keep easily. This may be true, but if you go through life not stretching yourself with commitments that force you to reach into new territory, you will remain in the same place, doing the same thing, and getting the same results you have always got.
When you make true, realistic commitments that you stand behind 100%, and then achieve. You feel the satisfaction of success. You grow into a person of high esteem and value. You become the one that others look to as a person of high integrity.
Any commitment we make with ourselves must be realistic. Never confuse commitments with dreams, hopes, or wishes. When you make a realistic commitment it will become something that you can get behind 100% and keep no matter what obstacles life may throw at you.
If you can’t keep commitments with yourself, you will never be able to keep commitments with others.
Not Ready?
Not ready yet?
OK, so you are not ready to move forward with your goals and dreams. "A dollar, a dollar"; then two!" "Onlytwo? Two dollars, and who'll make it three? Three dollars, once; three dollars twice; going for three.." But no, from the room, far back, agray-haired man came forward and picked up the bow; Then, wiping the dust from the old violin, and tightening the loose strings, he played a melody pure and sweet as caroling angel sings.The music ceased, and the auctioneer, with a voice that was quiet and low, said; "What am I bid for the old violin?" And he held it up with the bow. A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two? Two thousand! And who'll make it three? Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice, and going and gone," said he. The people cheered, but some of them cried, "We do not quite understand what changed its worth." Swift came the reply: "The touch of a master's hand."And many a man with life out of tune, and battered and scarred with sin, is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd, much like the old violin, A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine; a game - and he travels on. "He is going" once, and "going twice, He's going and almost gone." But the Mastercomes, and the foolish crowd never can quite understand the worth of a soul and the change that's wrought by the touch of the Master's hand.
Myra 'Brooks' inside each of us is that flicker of an idea,
that small flame of desire, waiting, wanting to get out.
To be realized, developed, and formed into your destiny.
Some of us can see it easily, and begin to live that which we are destined to be.
Others still hold that desire deep inside ourselves, unwilling to let it go.
That secret type='text'>Can you SEE?
I just finished watching a great movie,
Runaway Bride, Julia Roberts, and Richard Gere.
Yes, it's one of those feel good, Friday date night, type of love stories, but there was one scene that really inspired me to write this entry.
Richard Gere is speaking to his ex-wife,
"What happened to us, why didn't we make it?", and then he said,
"Did I not see you?"
This made me stop and think, do we really see anyone close to us?
Do we know who they are, do we know what they really want, need, or desire. Do we know what we ourselves really want, need or desire?
Ask your self this question, and see what answers you come up with,
Can I look into the mirror, and see who I am.
Can you raise above your life, step outside yourself, and see who you are?
What makes you tick? What uniqueness makes you, YOU?
I say to you, MAKE TODAY THE DAY,
turn off the TV, sit down with yourself, and get to the root of your soul.
Wellness
"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn the past, not to worry about the future, nor to anticipate troubles,
but to live the present moment wisely and Wellness
Growth
Growth is not optional, it is a necessity. Emotional, spiritual, and mental.
Continue to grow daily. Read something different. Try something new. Visit someplace you haven't been before. Listen to new music. Look at things with a different mind.
Diet
Listen to your body. Your body was created perfectly, everything working together in harmony. When you eat processed, and chemically treated foods that throw it out of balance do you suffer from sickness, illness, and disease. Obesity is number one leading cause of heart disease in the US. Smoking has dropped to number two!
Eat a minimum of 5 organic fruits and vegetables daily. Drink clean water. Avoid soda, and processed, packaged foods.
Exercise
Do anything, just start today, even a short walk around the block. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park farthest away from the mall, and walk briskly. Something is better than nothing.
Progress slowly, and soon you will find that you can easily walk 1/2-1 mile a day. Soon you be doing more. But the key is to start today, right now, this minute.
Make the choice in favor of YOU.
Stress
Stress is becoming a deadly problem. We stress about everything. But the amazing thing about stress is where it really is. Stress is not something that attacks us from outside ourselves, it is inside of us. We make it. So if we make it we can get rid of it.
There are many ways to reduce stress. Meditation, exercise, yoga, counseling, and music.
I have found that all of these work very well, and should be used daily.
But one thing I have found to greatly reduce stress in my life, is just decide
to not get stressed out. If we live from a place where we know that things are going to happen that will test us, and try to disrupt our lives, then when they happen we can accept them for what they are, just stuff that we have to deal with, nothing more. They are just small rocks in the path of life. Stay focused on the big rocks, and just step over the small ones.
I hope these tips have been helpful.
I have many more tips, and helpful advice in my current newsletter.
Or visit my friends at Homeopathy.com
For your FREE copy contact me today.
Jeff's email
Life's ABC's
A) Believe in Yourself
Make the choice to believe in the power of YOU.
You have the choice, you have the power, believe that you can do it. Football, that was the game.
Football was the game Sam had always wanted to play.
But alas, Sam was never chosen when the other guys made up the teams. He would try his hardest every recess to get the guys to chose him. Just once if he could play, he would show them, he would let them see how well he could play football.
Sam had watched football every Sunday with his dad. He knew all about it. He knew he could play better than most of the other guys at recess. All he needed was his one chance to show everyone how well he could play football.
It was a Wednesday, with a cloudy sky that threatened rain at anytime. James, and two other of Sam's friends were out sick with colds. Sam could feel it, just before the recess bell rang. This was his day. He knew he would get his chance to play football today.
The bell rang, everyone ran outside for recess, and sure enough the football guys invited Sam to play. This was his chance, this was his day. With a nervous stomach Sam went over in his mind all the times he had watched the others playing football at recess. He remembered how they threw the ball, kicked it, and ran with it. He knew how to hold his arms up to block the other players. He knew football, and he was ready to play.
The game started out much the same as it did most any day. Players running, jumping, blocking, and kicking the football, each other, and the ground in general.
It was just before the bell rang to go back in when Sam found himself presented with a life changing moment. One of those times when you are so sure in your mind you are doing the right thing, and you do it. Sam was standing directly in front of the fumbled football. Of course he knew what he had to do. He had seen it in his mind a million times. Pick up the ball and run all the way to the goal for a touchdown. But in that moment, that single second, he felt in his stomach that something was not right. He looked around, no other player was close to him, he could hear some of the other players yelling at him to pick up the ball. So he did. He grabbed the ball, tucked it into his stomach and started running as fast as he could. He ran, and ran, but none of the other players could catch him.
As he was nearing the goal he could hear all the other players yelling and cheering for him. He could feel the adrenalin rushing through him as he got closer and closer to the goal. There it was directly in front of him, a few more steps and Sam would score his first touchdown. He did it he said to himself aloud as he ran into the endzone. He stopped and slammed the ball down hard into the ground as he had seen so many Sunday's with his dad. He felt as if he had just won the gold metal at the Olympics.
Just then the ending recess bell rang. Sam could see the other players running towards him to congratulate him on his big play, but Sam was wrong, and inside he had known it the whole time.
You see the one small thing in this game that Sam had failed to learn was which way to run.
Do you know all the rules for the game of life you are expected to play, and win?
Do you listen to that inner knowing that tells you when to go, when to stop, and which way?
Have you practiced each and every play over, and over again?
How can you expect to practice, play, and win in a game where the rules, boundaries, and which way to run is unknown, or always changing?
This is where a coach can help.
We can help with finding your game,
practicing, and developing strategies,
listening, and helping with making the right choices.
You still may not be able to win every time,
but you will at least know which way to run.
Peace, Love, & Happiness
Coach Jeff Nis
Contact info
Defining Success to You
What does Defining Success mean?
It means that you have identified the 3 key relationships, things, or other elements of life that that are most important to you in your life at this time. These 3 items can be things like "The love I experience from my wife." to "How creative I’m being." The idea of defining success may sound pretty obvious to you, but there is a subtlety to this process that you’ll learn about in just a moment.What seems to be true about the notion of defining success?Until you take the time to define success for yourself, it is most likely being defined by others, your culture, the past, hope or advertising.Only you can truly define success for yourself. And, you can use feedback from others to help you articulate your 3 success definitions.These success definitions set you free to enjoy life completely; they do not define you or box you in. Rather, they release you from priorities that are not relevant or that meaningful.Why is it beneficial for me to define success?Given the number of influences, past and present, that one is subjected to, it’s very helpful to know what’s most important to you. This, so that you don’t get seduced or distracted by the demands of others, your job, advertising or other sources which will tend to define what’s important to you if you haven’t taken the opportunity to define yourself first.
The 3 Steps
How do I define success for myself?
Step 1. Ask yourself this question.I know I am being successful by... [fill in the blank here]It’s very important that you use the exact sentence structure and words that you see above because this sets you up to articulate more clearly how you not only define success but how you know you’re being success at any given moment. See, we promised you a subtlety and that is it.
Step 2. Tweak your 3 responses until they resonate.You'll know that a success definition is phrased well when you feel a tingle in your body, or the light bulb goes on or you feel otherwise excited. Not feeling that way yet? Not to worry. This exercise is new for most people and it may take a couple days of tinkering with your success definitions before they zing. And they will. You will also find yourself thinking about success as you are redefining it; that is good! If you are truly stuck and just can't find resonating definitions, then simply start over and pick totally different ones. This, because sometimes people confuse what they should or could want for their success definitions with what they really, really want.
Step 3. Notice the tugs you feel.As you feel your success definitions resonating over the coming weeks, notice the way it tugs at you to make small, or perhaps significant, changes in your life. You’ll catch yourself fairly quickly when you feel pulled away from your definitions. You’ll find it easier to say no to people or situations that just don’t fit anymore with what is most important to you. It's up to you if you want to make these changes right now, but at least you'll know what your body and heart are suggesting.
DON'T DEPRIVE YOURSELF
REVIVE YOURSELF
As we have all come to realize,
DIETS DO NOT WORK...PERIOD
We have a better plan,
Weight Loss Life Coaching
Why not be the person, inside and out, that you were destined to be?
Have a chocolate for more info
<img style="DISPLAY: block; Dated one year from today. In this letter see yourself as having already reached that elusive goal, or dream.
Be specific.
If you are dreaming of a different home, what specifically does it look like. How large is it? How many bedrooms? How many bathrooms? What is the outside landscaping look like? What colors are inside? Does it have a pool, or hot tub? What kind of flooring, lighting, etc.
Once you have a complete picture of your dream, or goal, and can visualize how it looks, and feels to be living that vision, you can then start to formalize a plan to reach it.
Now move backward from this time of completing this goal, or dream, one month, or step, at a time, and visualize each step that needs to be completed so you can move to the next step. By using this "chunk it up" format you can not only see the complete picture, but it enables you to break it up into smaller, manageable chunks that you complete each month. Some steps may also need to be chunked up into samller pieces, but by using this format, and staying focused you will reach the ultimate goal, or dream.
The only thing that stands between a person, and what they want in life.Is the will to try it, and the faith to believe it possible.
This is where a Professional Coach can help. The challenge is to have the resources, and ability to create the correct strategy, or select a proven strategy from a similar situation.
In this new age of everyone wanting everything NOW, and not willing to, "pay the price" of waiting, hard work, and dedication as it was, "back in the day". Creative strategies have become very important, and are far less draining emotionally, and physically.
These new creative, intelligent, customized strategies that most of us are not aware of can be changed, and adapted to fit most any situation to ensure success in business, or personal endeavors.
Strategizing is a skill that when mastered can benefit you forever in your career, business, and personal life.
To learn more about startegies click here.
Contact Information
<img style="FLOAT: left; And today you're going to get up all your courage and just do what you're aching to do.
Just before you begin taking the first steps of attacking your giants you might be nervous, anxious, and scared to death.
But it's at that moment, when your frightened the most that you'll make you biggest strides.
Because today, you are not going to back down.
Contact Jeff Nis
Honor Your Uniqueness
Some Simple Ways to Honor Your Uniqueness
One message we hear from the time we are children is that it is better to give than receive. It is best to be humble. It is best to not shine a light on ourselves.
True, and not so true.
We also need to recognize that until we honor ourselves with love and compassion that we will not be able to give fully to another, or shine the light on another nor will we truly understand humility.
These simply steps will take you on a path to honoring your uniqueness every day. Use them as a way to see how you are doing. Celebrate what is working, and choose to make adjustments where there is adjustment necessary.
Take time for quiet daily.
Yes, there is much that needs to get done. Once you maintain a habit of being quiet either to contemplate, pray, meditate you will be amazed how much more efficiently you will perform your tasks, duties and projects.
Treat yourself with as much care, if not more, than you treat others.
Love and nurture yourself as you love and nurture those around you OR as you would LIKE to nurture those around you. Once you master caring for yourself, caring for others will become effortless and spring from the heart instead of from duty.
Accept compliments from others with grace.
Never, ever disrespect the person you are complimenting by disregarding or negating their compliment. Instead, accept it as you would a treasure box or a long awaited gift. Be grateful they can see something extra special about you!
Spend time investing in and cultivating close friendships.
Incorporate friend building activities into your daily routine. Exercise with a friend, share meals together, keep in touch with a brief email or 10 minute daily phone call.
Give joyfully and receive with open arms.
Recognize that giving and receiving are on the same continuum and not separate at all! Learning to give completely translates into receiving more than you could ever plan or expect to receive. The results take care of themselves.
Mentor someone simply for the pleasure of observing and becoming involved in their growth.
Invite someone who does not have the same level as skills as you do along for the ride with you. Listen to their input and see what you can create together. Chances are you will learn a lot from them (and vice versa!) creating both a Win/Win situation as well as learning about your own strengths and weaknesses in the process.
Live a purposeful, vision, values, cause oriented life.
Recognize and embrace that you are creating your life as a masterful artist each and every day. You can choose each day whether you want to simply let life happen each day or if you want to create it fully.
Love yourself with all your heart, soul, and strength without attachment to what you are achieving in your life today.
Be compassionate and understanding while also standing firm in the knowledge that you are both incredibly unique and incredibly capable.
When you can master this balance, being attached to your outcomes is not an issue because you will be achieving outcomes beyond your own imagination.
You will be so magnetic you will wonder where YOU have been all this time! The answer? You are RIGHT there, ready and waiting to follow these simple principles.
Live with Passion. Today.
Contact Jeff Nis
Words of Inspiration
Father, I've come too far to go back now. Take me in Your arms today, and empower me in such a way that my life of worship and witness will be entirely transformed. For Jesus' sake. Amen.
"The ultimate accomplishment is integrity"
Today is such a wonderful day, a perfect day, and you are perfect within it. This is a perfect day for you to simply be who you are, in all of the ways that you are, without editing, without asking whether what you are is good, or whether what you are is acceptable. Today is a day just to be you.
And this means saying what you feel, doing what you care to do, speaking your mind. Yes, you will want to be respectful of others, but you will also want to be respectful of yourself. Respecting others while disrespecting yourself is not the answer.
You will find that the deeper you go into self-respect, the easier it will be to respect others. The deeper you go into self-approval and self-love, the easier it will be to love and approve of others.
Your attitude toward others is so often a mirror of your attitude toward yourself. Be easier on yourself, more tolerant and forgiving, less demanding, and it will follow that it will be easier for you to extend this to others as well.
After all, what is this great accomplishment, perfection and success you seek? The ultimate accomplishment is to live with deep integrity, to have every moment an expression of you, every action, every word, every thought, a true expression of the person that you are, shining out with wonder and glory, your truth and beauty gracing the world around you.
This is the ultimate success, the ultimate accomplishment. This is why you are here, to grace the world with that unique spark that only you have, to light the corners of the earth with your own glow, to make all of life brighter and more wondrous because you have the courage to shine out and lighten the world around you.
Here is a little prayer for today.
I acknowledge my own beauty and wonder. I know that I am worthwhile. I know that I am enough, more than enough, for my lifetime.
I am strong and capable and can handle what comes my way. I am full of courage and light and can shine out with who I am in every moment. I am full of truth and burn to share that truth with the world.
I am a light to the world. I shine. I am.
Contact Jeff Nis
GOALS
"To dream anything that you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed." ~ Bernard Edmonds
Maybe your gifts and skills are modest, but to hide them,
to not develop and share them, whatever they are,
would be a great tragedy.
Years ago, I wondered how I could live with myself if
I didn't do what I knew would improve the lives of so many.
I knew I couldn't.
My Exciting Beliefs
-- I'm making the most of my life now and every day.
-- I am committed to living my life with passion
-- I'm using my unique gifts to enrich myself and others
-- I'm making myself worth more each and every day
-- I believe in the future of the human race
-- I bring out the best in others
-- I make and achieve my GOALS.
Goals.
The average person has no long-term goals.
And the word creates a lot of confusion.
Most think a goal is a goal when it's something like: You
want to be rich; want a movie star body; win a gold medal;
get an advanced college degree; in short, to desire
something really huge.
The trouble with big goals is not that you're dreaming out
of your league--it's that very few set goals in such a way
that they ever get accomplished. Like everything, there's
right and wrong ways to do it. You can buy books, and go
to seminars to learn how. I did. But honestly, it boils
down to a few simple steps and some things you can do to
ensure that you'll stick it out and be there at the end
with your hands raised high.
First you must be able to visualize you goal, and see your self as already having reached your goal. Picture yourself in your minds eye living your achieved goal as often as you can everyday.
And at the same time STOP thinking about anything that is in the way of you achieving your goal. The mind will only accomplish one thing at a time. So if you keep having other, negative, thoughts getting in the way of your mind reaching your goal, then you will surely fail.
But if you replace all the negative thoughts, with your vision of having already reached your goal then there is no way you cannot reach your goal.
Now while this sounds relatively easy, IT IS NOT.
To help with this you must be able to describe your goal in great detail as if you were writing it down for someone else to read, and when they read it they would have a crystal clear picture of everything in it.
Example:
Your goal is to have a new car.
What kind of car, what color, what make, how big, what kind of interior?
What kind of sound system? What CDs would be playing?
Where would you be traveling to in your new car?
What would the roads be like that you drove on?
And so on, and so on, and so on.
VERY SPECIFIC with DETAILS.
See, feel, smell, and live your goal of having that car everyday.
Before getting up in the morning, and before going to sleep at night.
And every time a thought comes into your mind that gives you the feeling, or illusion that you could never have that car, you must replace it with the image of you driving down the beach highway, with the top down, and the sun shining, the smell of the salt air, and the seagulls crapping on the hood. Everything.
Once you can master this simple step to achieving your goals, and I mean truly master it.
You can then begin to make a difference.
A difference in your life, and everyone you touch.
This is true of anything you really want, desire, or dream about.
You have to really want it, and then live it daily.
And all your dreams, and goals will come true.
"Ask and it shall be given you,
Seek, and ye shall find,
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
Good Luck, and congratulations.
Contact Jeff Nis
The Strangest Secret
The Strangest Secret
I have found the strangest secret.
This recording from 1956 made by "The Duke", of personal development,
Earl Nightinggale.
It will change your life forever.
It is about 45 minutes long, and is narrated by the great Mark Victor Hansen, author of the famous Chicken Soup for the Soul Book series.
Please find the time to download it, burn it to disk, and listen to it many times.
For a free disk please email me, and I will send to you FREE
You to can find the Strangest Secret.
The Strangest Secret
Defining Success to You
What does Defining Success mean?
It means that you have identified the 3 key relationships, things, or other elements of life that that are most important to you in your life at this time. These 3 items can be things like "The love I experience from my wife." to "How creative I’m being." The idea of defining success may sound pretty obvious to you, but there is a subtlety to this process that you’ll learn about in just a moment.
What seems to be true about the notion of defining success?
Until you take the time to define success for yourself, it is most likely being defined by others, your culture, the past, hope or advertising.
Only you can truly define success for yourself. And, you can use feedback from others to help you articulate your 3 success definitions.
These success definitions set you free to enjoy life completely; they do not define you or box you in. Rather, they release you from priorities that are not relevant or that meaningful.
Why is it beneficial for me to define success?
Given the number of influences, past and present, that one is subjected to, it’s very helpful to know what’s most important to you. This, so that you don’t get seduced or distracted by the demands of others, your job, advertising or other sources which will tend to define what’s important to you if you haven’t taken the opportunity to define yourself first.
The 3 Steps
How do I define success for myself? There are 3 steps...
Step 1. Ask yourself this question.
I know I am being successful by... [fill in the blank here]
It’s very important that you use the exact sentence structure and words that you see above because this sets you up to articulate more clearly how you not only define success but how you know you’re being success at any given moment. See, we promised you a subtlety and that is it.
Step 2. Tweak your 3 responses until they resonate.
You'll know that a success definition is phrased well when you feel a tingle in your body, or the light bulb goes on or you feel otherwise excited. Not feeling that way yet? Not to worry. This exercise is new for most people and it may take a couple days of tinkering with your success definitions before they zing. And they will. You will also find yourself thinking about success as you are redefining it; that is good! If you are truly stuck and just can't find resonating definitions, then simply start over and pick totally different ones. This, because sometimes people confuse what they should or could want for their success definitions with what they really, really want.
Step 3. Notice the tugs you feel.
As you feel your success definitions resonating over the coming weeks, notice the way it tugs at you to make small, or perhaps significant, changes in your life. You’ll catch yourself fairly quickly when you feel pulled away from your definitions. You’ll find it easier to say no to people or situations that just don’t fit anymore with what is most important to you. It's up to you if you want to make these changes right now, but at least you'll know what your body and heart are suggesting.
Feeling Special
We all need to feel special, but those real feelings of being special come from within us when we are alive with passion for life.
You will stop pulling on others to make you special only when you accept the full responsibility of making yourself feel special.
This means learning to give yourself all that you may be trying to get from others, treating yourself in the loving ways you desire from others. There are many ways of asking ourselves to feel special. Instead of trying to get others to give you what you want, you can:
TAKE EMOTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Attend to your feelings throughout the day and explore what you may be doing that is causing painful feelings, rather than making others responsible for your feelings.
Attend to your own needs rather than expecting others to meet your needs.
Accept yourself rather than judge yourself. Validate yourself, approve of yourself – tell yourself the things you want to hear from others. Value your talents and gifts.
Value your intrinsic worth rather than just your looks or performance – your kindness, compassion, creativity, caring.
Behave in ways that you value – being loving, kind, integreous, compassionate, understanding, caring.
Pursue work you love, work that fulfills you, if possible.
TAKE PHYSICAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Feed yourself well to maintain health and appropriate weight.
Get enough rest and exercise.
Create balance between work and play and creative time.
Make sure you are physically safe such as when riding a motorcycle.
TAKE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Make sure you are financially independent rather than dependent upon another, if physically able to do so.
Spend within your means to avoid the fear and stress of debt.
TAKE RELATIONSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
Stand up for yourself and speak your truth rather than complying, defending or resisting in the face of others' demands or criticism. Don't be a victim.
Refrain from blaming others, with anger and criticism, for your feelings and behavior. Don't be a victim.
TAKE ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Do what you say you are going to do regarding time and chores.
Make sure your living space and work environment are clean and tidy, and esthetically pleasing.
TAKE SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITY
Take the time to connect with the love and truth of God/Higher Power.
Take time throughout the day to bring the love down to the level of your feeling self – your Inner Child.
Treating yourself in these loving ways will eventually result in feeling internally special rather than needing others to make you feel special.
For more info go to Clean Sweep
Contact Jeff Nis
Thought Food for the Day
"When I chased after money, I never had enough. Dated one year from today. In this letter see yourself as having already reached that elusive goal, or dream. Be specific. If you are dreaming of a different home, what specifically does it look like. How large is it? How many bedrooms? How many bathrooms? What is the outside landscaping look like? What colors are inside? Does it have a pool, or hot tub? What kind of flooring, lighting, etc.
Once you have a complete picture of your dream, or goal, and can visualize how it looks, and feels to be living that vision, you can then start to formalize a plan to reach it.
Now move backward from this time of completing this goal, or dream, one month, or step, at a time, and visualize each step that needs to be completed so you can move to the next step. By using this "chunk it up" format you can not only see the complete picture, but it enables you to break it up into smaller, manageable chunks that you complete each month.
Some steps amy also need to be chunked up into samller pieces, but by using this format, and staying focused you will reach the ultimate goal, or dream.
The only thing that stands between a person, and what they want in life.
Is the will to try it, and the faith to believe it possible.
